After graduating from the NBCC Pre-Employment Carpentry Program in the spring of 2022, I was hired by the homeowner to work on the Purple Build. I contributed to this project full time for 1 year and had the opportunity to see all of the stages of a new house build.
When I started at this worksite, the house was bare studs and windows. I was on a team with 3 carpenters and together we installed insulation, pocket doors (in every doorway) and drywall. For the floors, we laid engineered hardwood throughout the majority of the home.
My first experience tiling was in the main floor bathroom. We laid porcelain brick tiles in a herringbone pattern with a boarder. I am very detail oriented and I immediately fell in love with this process. I was later assigned to do the tile in the entryway on my own, as well as the backsplash in the laundry room and the kitchen pantry.

Outside we installed wood siding vertically in purple and black. We built Larsen trusses where the cedar shingles were placed to add dimension to the home.
